Level 3 Spells

  • Casting Cost: Core Action +3SD, 5SD, 30ft movement + 3SD, or 50ft movement
  • Range: Varies (default 50ft if not specified)
  • Base Damage: Spellcasting modifier + Proficiency + damage pool
  • Scaling (SD): Can allocate SD pools to increase damage, duration, number of targets, or special effect scaling (varies by spell).

Beacon of Hope

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Allies gain advantage on Wisdom counters and regain max HP from healing
Range: 30ft radius
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +10ft range


Bestow Curse

Target: Chosen ability
Effect: Target suffers a chosen cursed ability, adding the caster’s proficiency to difficulty
Range: Touch
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = OR +1 target


Target: Untargeted
Effect: Vanish to Ethereal Plane until next turn
Range: Self
Duration: instant
Scaling (SD): +3 SD = cast as a reaction


Call Lightning

Target: Agility
Effect: Lightning bolt strikes a target for base spell damage
Range: 120ft
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +1d10 damage OR +1 additional strike


Clairvoyance

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Creates an invisible sensor to see or hear at a distant location
Range: 1 mile
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +1 mile


Create Food and Water

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Creates food for 15 and water for 5
Range: 30ft
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +5 more people fed


Daylight

Target: Untargeted
Effect: 60ft radius of bright light, 120ft dim, dispels magical darkness
Range: 60ft
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +10ft range or radius


Dispel Magic

Target: Original Caster’s roll or Untargeted (whichever is greater)
Effect: Ends magical effects on a creature or object
Range: 120ft
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +1 level of effect that can be dispelled


Fear

Target: Wisdom
Effect: Targets drop items and flee for duration
Range: 30ft cone
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +10ft cone


Fireball

Target: Agility
Effect: 20ft radius explosion deals base spell damage
Range: 150ft
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +damage, +range, +aoe


Fly

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Grants target flying speed equal to movement
Range: Touch
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +1 additional target


Gaseous Form

Target: Touch
Effect: Target transforms into a cloud of mist retaining their movement speed. Gains resistance to nonmagical damage, advantage on STR/DEX/CON checks, can move through cracks or under doors. Cannot attack, speak, or cast spells.

Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +1 target


Glyph of Warding

Target: Untargeted (location or object)
Effect: Inscribe a glyph that triggers a magical effect (damage or spell) when conditions are met. Trap is invisible and can be made permanent.
Duration: Until triggered or dispelled
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +damage or +1 stored spell level


Haste

Target: Constitution
Effect: Target’s speed doubles, gains +1 action per turn (attack, dash, disengage), and +2 to checks. When spell ends, the creature can't move or act for 1 turn.
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +1 target


Hypnotic Pattern

Target: Wisdom
Range: 120ft
Effect: Creatures in a 30ft cube see a twisting pattern of light that charms and incapacitates
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +10ft cube


Lightning Bolt

Target: Agility
Range: 100ft line (5ft wide)
Effect: A bolt of lightning deals base spell damage to all creatures in line
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +damage, +10ft range, +width


Magic Circle

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Creates a 10ft-radius, 20ft-tall cylinder that affects creatures of a chosen type (fiend, fey, etc.)—they can’t enter or charm, frighten, or possess within the circle
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +target type, +radius


Major Image

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Create a non-damaging illusion (sound, smell, temperature) that interacts with all senses. Size scaled by proficiency (see familiar, pet, and summon size table)
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +size/detail


Meld into Stone

Target: Self
Effect: Merge into a stone object, wall, or floor. Can hear but can’t see. No physical damage can reach you unless the stone is destroyed.

Nondetection

Target: Touch
Effect: Target is warded from divination magic, including detection spells and magical scrying.
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +target


Protection from Energy

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Grants resistance to one type of energy (acid, fire, lightning, etc.)
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +1 target, +type


Remove Curse

Target: Touch
Effect: Ends all curses affecting one creature or object
Duration: Instant
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +1 target


Revivify

Target: Untargeted Effect: Bring back a creature that died within the last minute. Roll SD spent on Revivify to determine HP restored.
Duration: Instantaneous
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = additional minute after death limit or roll +1 SD to restore more than 1 HP


Sending

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Send a short telepathic message (25 words) across any distance or plane. Recipient can respond in kind.
Duration: Instant
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +25 words, +target


Sleet Storm

Target: Agility (if in area)
Effect: Creates 40ft radius, 20ft tall cylinder of sleet. Terrain becomes difficult, vision obscured, and checks for concentration are made with disadvantage.

Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +10ft radius


Slow

Target: Constitution
Effect: Halves speed, imposes −2 to checks and prevents reactions. On success, target can only take 1 action or bonus action, not both.
Range: 120ft, 40ft cube

Stinking Cloud

Target: Constitution
Effect: Creates 20ft-radius cloud of gas. Creatures must check or be poisoned (unable to take action that turn). Wind can disperse.

Tongues

Target: Untargeted
Effect: The creature you touch understands and speaks any spoken language
Duration: 1 hour
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +hour, +target


Vampiric Touch

Target: Constitution
Effect: Touch (melee attack) deals base spell damage and restores half as healing to caster
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +damage


Water Breathing

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Up to 10 creatures gain the ability to breathe underwater
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +5 creatures


Water Walk

Target: Untargeted
Effect: Up to 10 willing creatures can walk on liquid surfaces
Duration: concentration
Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +target


Wind Wall

Target: Strength
Effect: Creates 50ft long, 15ft high, 1ft thick wall of wind. Blocks gases, small flying creatures, and ranged weapon attacks.

Scaling (SD): +1 SD = +10ft length, +height
